Ways To Read Faster

reading fasterReading has long been an activity loved by many the world over. People over the centuries have tried to increase the rate at which they read for various reasons. One popular reason to read faster is that it is claimed to help you become more productive overall. In fact, the average reading rate is about 200 words a minute. This works out to being roughly a page each minute. If certain methods are applied and practiced, many people have had tremendous success increasing their reading rates, with reported increases to over 1,000 words per minute. How can one go about increasing their own rate?

One helpful tip to aid you in your journey to quicker reading is to remember that you need to minimize the number of glances that you take at the page. When you look away from the page, you will most likely experience a form of regression, or skipping back, in order to try to find your spot on the page. You will likely reread words that you have already read. This can also happen when you are reading something that is not interesting to you. That is another tip that will help you to read faster: find ways to make your reading more interesting and/or enjoyable. Reading something you are interested in is quite easy, but how about topics you're not so excited about? Ask yourself how the material may apply to you or be useful to you. Chances are, you will find something that catches your interest.
